In an ideological war "moderates" and "independents" are Irrevelvant

Political moderates and so called independents are completely irrelevant in the war of ideologies.  I hope after reading this you'll see the universal truth in how people who stand on the sidelines in an ideological war, waiting for someone to woo them from one side or the other find themselves resented.

If you haven't read this, please do ... It doesn't matter what ideology you are fighting be it rampant socialism, Nazism or Islamo-facism there is a universal truth in the fact that only those with skin in the game are in it to win it -- moderates who capitulate with the political winds are irrelevant and it is time we treat them as such.  I certainly don't advocate extremism or fanaticism but fighting passionately and taking risks when it really counts is the only way to fight insidious and brazen evil.

A German's Point of View on Islam by Carlton-Ross
November 10, 2007 01:00 PM EST

I received this article in an e-mail and it is a message that needs to be broadcast around the world. Read it. And if you really care about the future your children and grandchildren will face, you will encourage others to read it.
C.R.

A German's point of view on Islam

A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

"Very few people were true Nazis "he said," but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, we had lost control and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories."

We are told again and again by "experts" and "talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.

It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor killers. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the "peaceful majority", the "silent majority", is cowed and extraneous.

Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China 's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery? Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peace loving"?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.

Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because, like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghanis, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit and send this on and on and on! Let us hope that thousands, world wide, read this and think about it, and send it on - before it's too late.

Rants... better for you than health care reform

The other night I had the opportunity to speak with Ben Shapiro when he filled in as host for the Rusty Humphries Show.  After speaking with him, I sat down and wrote this ...

Hi Ben,

I really enjoyed venting for a few minutes with you on the Rusty Humphries Show last evening.  I wish I had longer, but as Talk Show Hosts go at least you give callers a moment to articulate their point and do not speak over them (although I would be less than honest if I didn’t say that some callers can’t articulate a point and therefore it is out of mercy for the listening audience that the host gets them going).

In any case, I mentioned last night that Kanye West has a beef with “the one” but due to FCC regulations I couldn’t say it on the radio so until fedzilla gets a strangle hold on the internet (G-d help us all) I am free to share the link with you via email… here it is …

Obama: Danny Glover's a *&^%$

Well, that's basically what he said. And if he'd said just that, I guess I'd agree. But he didn't.

He told us how damnably popular he is, yet again.

President Barack Obama deflected criticism Monday that he has not been attentive enough to the African-American community, telling American Urban Radio Networks that he was unconcerned to see that kind of message coming from former supporters such as actor Danny Glover.

"If you want me to line up all the black actors, for example, who support me and put them on one side of the room and a couple who are grumbling on the other, I'm happy to have that," Obama said, adding that polls show African-Americans express "overwhelming support for what we've tried to do."

In an interview with reporter April Ryan, Obama argued that the fact of his sitting with Ryan for an interview with the Oval Office was significant on its own.

"Is there grumbling?" he asked rhetorically. "Of course, there's grumbling, because we just went through the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression."

As Kanye West said, Obama hates black people. Or at least his grumbling black critics; I think we can establish a general rule that Obama doesn't like anyone who doesn't polish his a** to a high sheen.

A bit more:

Obama repeatedly used the pronoun "we" in discussing America's black community, but insisted that he shouldn't be expected to target policies exclusively to African-Americans.

"The only thing I cannot do is, by law I can't pass laws that say I'm just helping black folks," Obama said. "I'm the president of the entire United States. What I can do is make sure that I am passing laws that help all people, particularly those who are most vulnerable and most in need. That, in turn, is going to help lift up the African-American community."

This is a bit telling. Much of what he's doing is a wealth-transfer from one demographic (older, whiter) to another (younger, blacker). One needn't need to be a racist to object to such take-from-me-to-give-to-thee scheming.

As he says, he can't pass laws that "say" he's doing this, even if he's kind of doing it.

This guy has just never gotten serious criticism in his life. He's been overindulged and promoted far beyond his abilities his whole damn life. Until now, when he's promoted to a position he's plainly unqualified for, and he's shocked at this new human invention called "criticism."

Psychologically, this guy is the high school Alpha Jock who was a big fish in a little pond for the whole of his life... until he fails to make the team in college, and his status as a superstar is suddenly taken away from him.

And he reacts with anger, of course, swirled with a bit of existential panic -- What is he if not that?

So that's what we have in this "first-class temperament" guy. A coddled, petulant boy-man who stewing in resentment that the rest of his life wasn't just as easy as grades K-12.

Thanks to AHFF Geoff.

Now this is the part that had I had the time to speak with you at length I would have brought up.  I am a Nurse Practitioner in Utah.  I have been in practice nearly 5 years and spent the 7 years prior to that as a trauma and transplant nurse in one of only 2 Level One ACS [American College of Surgeons] Trauma Hospitals in the State.  Much to my chagrin, President Obama likes the company I work for and it has gotten praise (frankly, I wish he’d just ignore health care altogether and let the private sector do what it does best); granted we have a great system but the last thing I want is for the federal government coming in and tweaking a great system and wrecking havoc … that being said if you are interested in integrated healthcare look up www.intermountainhealthcare.org

I have been reeling since this supposed health care reform bill got the votes for cloture the other night.  I have spent many months writing members of the Congress and the Senate about this of course to no avail.  I was not surprised that the self-described socialist from VT caved or even Nelson from Nebraska.  I was heartbroken that Joe Lieberman crushed his shoe in the face of the American people in favor of those who politically shunned and crucified him for his sensible stand on Israel and the War on Terror.  These same people he appeased in this are the architects of the annihilation of the Jewish nation of Israel in favor of a Palestinian state that re-classifies Jews as second class citizens and will eventually begin the next holocaust (historically we know that Hitler got direction and advice on his ‘final solution’ from the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem during WW2, so why people are shocked that the Islamo-fascists are still at it is beyond me; but I digress.

Below is my letter to Senator Lieberman, obviously I am not his constituent and so he owes me nothing but it makes me feel a little better that I told him unequivocally that his actions would come back to haunt him.  I also have outlined what should be the GOP HCR platform; the devil is in the details so keeping it simple is the key not only to being the best thing for the American people and our economy but also in the name of true transparency.

******

With all due respect, Senator Lieberman,

I cannot believe what you have done, it is shameful.  Thanks to Senate Democrats and a few "Independents" like yourself who caved under pressure and pushed this dead skunk disguised as health care reform in spite of the fact that <1 American in 3 support the actions of this congress.

Most Americans realize, by now, that this plan for health care reform has NOTHING to do with health care, and EVERYTHING to do with getting a stranglehold of control over every aspect of the American people (including life and death).

We, the people, understand that this is how socialists work.  At first it is insidious and collectively the people think, 'well that will benefit a great number of people; it's not so bad’ and then the power grab gets more and more brazen ... It's the boiling frog scenario -- often it is too late to stop it when you realize just how dangerous it has become.  In the end, though you should know that the one thing that socialists fear the most is an educated and articulate society.

This is why deals must be brokered “behind closed doors” and critical votes are held in the middle of the night.   Then there are the payoffs and promises; anything said to make the supposed "independents" cave and bring this plan to pass the vote for cloture should be considered a “pie crust promise” easily made and easily broken.

I promise Obama, Reid and Pelosi will sell you out in the end.  Anyone who thinks that this unholy trifecta will be there to pick up the pieces of shattered political careers should think again.

They will promise you the world, whatever Federal entitlement your state desires, whatever appointment you want but in the end they will treat you like a cheap prom date that crawls into the darkened backseat with them – an easy roll.  They won’t respect you for giving in and once they pass this albatross they won’t even recognize you exist -- it's the modus operandi of narcissists and manipulators.

One thing you can count on is that your constituents and even those of us who aren't in your district, know when it is critical that you can’t be counted on – I don’t know how much louder we have to say it – Recent CNN polling shows 61% of Americans are against this bill and the numbers keep going up – we don’t want what this administration is peddling -- and yet the elitists are going to jam it through.

“You can't just make something a right because you think it ought to be. This whole thing makes me sick. The republic is falling and is poised to collapse into oblivion because people believe they have the right to enslave other men. Because they think they ought to have a right to lifeworks and minds of other men.”    – Jaquelyn Peterson, USMMA ‘08

If this WAS about health care (at all) then there would be considerations such as the following pen stroke of brilliance; but we all know that this is about power not health care which is PRECISELY why there is a fundamental failure within the political class to understand some very basic truths and realities (imagine that) Just in case you decide to side with America on health care reform and give the people a plan that will achieve health care reform without destroying 20% of the GDP and stripping Americans of their rights and liberties (which is exactly why the political elites hate me and my ideas).

Medicine is, has been, and will be, a commodity. It is produced by people, and cannot be a "non-commodity". Service or goods produced by people cannot be a "right".

True and viable health care reform can be achieved be quickly and relatively inexpensively by implementing the following steps, with special thanks to my partner in debate and my professional colleague Wayne Crawford, MPAS, PA-C for all the hours of debate on the issue, research and emails.

1. Prohibit insurance from paying greater than 80% of actual cost: patients need to have some skin in the game and will dramatically control costs when they are so motivated (actual experience). If the doctor discounts for the patient, the insurance company participates in the discount. Enforce with insurance fraud statutes.

2. Revive charity hospitals: this will give doctors a place to donate care, students to train, and provide for the needy without huge tax based entitlement programs.

3. Tort reform: prohibit any patient who has received discounted or free care from suing, and implement a loser pays system.

4. Remove the barriers to increased use of Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs): Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners provide 80% of the care, at the same quality, and for far less money than doctors.

5. Remove the interstate commerce barrier as it applies to health insurance:    Doing so would increase competition between insurance providers allowing health care consumers to drive through the free market principle of supply and demand. Implementing this will create a supply of affordable health care plans without destroying the free market based economy which is the natural result of controls through government intervention.

6. Allow individuals to create their own insurance pools: Allow these pools take advantage of the same tax benefits that businesses get for providing health benefits to employees; this creates truly portable insurance that is tied to the individual rather than their employment.

Implementing these 6 steps would yield the following results:

• Health Care costs drop like a rock

• Insurance premiums (including malpractice) become affordable

• Access to care increases.

• Medicare/Medicaid fades away

• Taxes go down

• Government budgets become reasonable

So thank you.  Thank you for helping to propel the American people along this economic free fall that this administration has us on.

As this monstrosity rolls forth and they again attempt to wine and dine you into a "compromised bill" between the House and Senate; I implore you to prepare yourself for war.  This is going to get ugly.  A line has been drawn in the sand between the will of the people of this great country and the elitists pushing manure as "conventional wisdom"

I would like to know exactly where our elected officials stand.  Just once I wish the group of you would have the guts, the moral clarity and the intellectual honesty to stand up and admit what it is you are trying to accomplish.

Still, a scientist at heart I really don't care what any of you say anymore -- this is all about outcomes.

The masses made their bed by electing this circus of fools and once the honeymoon is over they will realize that nothing is free and the promises were just words and there is nothing sincere coming out of the cesspool of Washington DC.  Rest assured though, that the people will grow tired of being taken advantage of we are tired of being resented rather than respected.

Elitist politicians pull stunts like  closed door deals, sneaking in policy changes requiring a "super majority" rather than following the rule of law and hold votes in the middle of the night, on bills that haven't even been read and will only benefit you and your cronies burdening this and future generations with punishing individual taxes and destroy the free market with a swipe of your pen and then wonder why we don't trust the government and why your approval rating is somewhere south of 20% -- it's mind boggling.

Every American goes to bed wondering ... Will they protect my right to choose my own health care, keep taxes low, Will they stand up for our military, will they protect our national sovereignty or sell us out to the UN? Will they stand, even if alone, to protect the Constitution and the Citizens of this country from all enemies foreign and domestic?

We just wish they would let us know unequivocally.  Because the actions taken last and in Copenhagen scare us and we need to prepare for the coming attacks on the Republic from enemies within and without.

P.S. I have loved your strength and commitment to the American-Israel Alliance; but please don't fool yourself into believing that this administration stands with you.   President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton have already made it abundantly clear on a number of occasions that they hold Israel in contempt and barely tolerate her right to exist.  Your best friends are going to be evangelical Christians who support the right of the Jewish State not only to survive but to thrive in peace and prosperity; it's just too bad you sided with those who are orchestrating the annihilation of this great Republic and next on their agenda is Israel and ultimately the Jewish nation; they won’t do it as overtly as Hitler; no they are too clever for that but they will support and defend her enemies and prop up the thugs and dictators in the UN.   If you believe all their well turned phrases then the only state you represent is the state of DELUSION.

Did Ex-Con's writing inspire Progressive's Health Care Reform?

Was Democrats’ Health Care Strategy Written In Federal Prison?

by Joel B. Pollak

On August 31, I headed to the health care town hall meeting of my congressional representative, Jan Schakowsky (D-IL). I suspected that she planned to stack the meeting with paid organizers, after she vowed on Real Time with Bill Maher to bring “millions” of people into the streets to support the so-called “public option.” So I brought a video camera.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YtcmmYOesk&feature=player_embedded

A friend and I took turns filming protesters on both sides of the issue. We caught an organizer from the group Health Care for America Now (HCAN) instructing followers to block dissenting views: “So if they stand up and start asking questions, and you’re in that area, simply stand up, and start chanting… ‘Health care now! Health care now!’”

My experience at Rep. Schakowsky’s town hall meeting that night convinced me to challenge her in the 2010 election. I had already stood up to Rep. Barney Frank at Harvard University, when I asked him about his role in the financial crisis. I could not simply watch thugs drown out the people of my own community back home, and do nothing.

The HCAN video became a YouTube sensation, the “smoking gun” in the controversy over which side of the debate was “Astroturfing”—i.e. creating a false image of grass roots support. I have since discovered that the video contains clues about how the entire nationwide health care campaign was planned and executed by congressional Democrats and the White House.

It turns out that the organizer in the video is John Gaudette, the Illinois director of HCAN. Gaudette also works for a left-wing group linked to ACORN called Citizen Action/Illinois. Rep. Schakowsky sits on the Policy Council of the group, which suggests that she may have known about or even coordinated the suppression of her own constituents’ views by HCAN.

The plot thickens.

Rep. Schakowsky’s husband, Robert Creamer, used to be the leader of Citizen Action/Illinois. He also founded its predecessor, Illinois Public Action, in which Ms. Schakowsky served as Program Director. He runs a political consulting firm, the Strategic Consulting Group, which lists ACORN and the SEIU among its clients and which made $541,000 working for disgraced former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich.

Creamer resigned from Citizen Action/Illinois after the FBI began investigating him for bank fraud and tax evasion at Illinois Public Action. He was convicted in 2006 and sentenced to five months in federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana, plus eleven months of house arrest.

While in prison—or “forced sabbatical,” he called it—Creamer wrote a lengthy political manual, Listen to Your Mother: Stand Up Straight! How Progressives Can Win (Seven Locks Press, 2007).

The book was endorsed by leading Democrats and their allies, including SEIU boss Andy Stern—the most frequent visitor thus far to the Obama White House—and chief Obama strategist David Axelrod, who noted that Creamer’s tome “provides a blueprint for future victories.”

In the book, Creamer draws lessons from decades of experience on the radical left, including the teachings of arch-radical Saul Alinsky, and several episodes from Rep. Schakowsky’s political career. He also lays out a “Progressive Agenda for Structural Change,” which includes a ten-point plan for foisting universal health care on the American people in 2009:

  • “We must create a national consensus that health care is a right, not a commodity; and that government must guarantee that right.”
  • “We must create a national consensus that the health care system is in crisis.”
  • “Our messaging program over the next two years should focus heavily on reducing the credibility of the health insurance industry and focusing on the failure of private health insurance.”
  • “We need to systematically forge relationships with large sectors of the business/employer community.”
  • “We need to convince political leaders that they owe their elections, at least in part, to the groundswell of support of [sic] universal health care, and that they face political peril if they fail to deliver on universal health care in 2009.”
  • “We need not agree in advance on the components of a plan, but we must foster a process that can ultimately yield consensus.”
  • “Over the next two years, we must design and organize a massive national field program.”
  • “We must focus especially on the mobilization of the labor movement and the faith community.”
  • “We must systematically leverage the connections and resources of a massive array of institutions and organizations of all types.”
  • “To be successful, we must put in place commitments for hundreds of millions of dollars to be used to finance paid communications and mobilization once the battle is joined.”

Creamer adds:

“To win we must not just generate understanding,

but emotion—fear, revulsion, anger, disgust.”

Democrats have followed Creamer’s plan to the letter. They have claimed our health care system is in crisis despite polls showing the overwhelming majority of Americans are happy with the care they receive. They have—with the help of President Obama—circulated false horror stories about Americans dying for lack of health care and health insurance.

They have targeted the health insurance industry, with Rep. Schakowsky herself promising to “put the private insurance industry out of business,” though it is a top employer in Illinois.

Democrats have cut deals with the pharmaceutical industry and the American Medical Association, among others. They have brought in the President himself to tell wavering “Blue Dog” Democrats that their re-election chances depend on passing health care reform. They have bused in SEIU members to town hall meetings, and used rabbis and pastors to back health care reform from the pulpit.

They have used a complex, interconnected web of organizations—including HCAN and Organizing For America, the former Obama campaign arm—to whip up support and silence opposition. And they have benefited from hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising to convince the public to support bills that their representatives have never read themselves.

Creamer wrote his plan in 2006, explicitly proposing that it be carried out in 2009, once a “progressive Democrat is elected President” and once Democrats could count on 60 votes in the Senate. It is curious that Creamer, sitting in prison, could have predicted the details and the timing of President Obama’s legislative agenda so precisely.

The likeliest explanation is that Creamer helped design the Democrats’ health care strategy. That would explain why President Obama made health care an obsession in 2009, when it was only one among many issues he raised on the campaign trail in 2008. It would explain the role of several overlapping left-wing groups, including Creamer’s own Citizen Action/Illinois.

It would explain why HCAN was particularly aggressive at Rep. Schakowsky’s own town hall meeting. And Creamer’s involvement would also explain his high profile after being released from prison. He worked for the Obama campaign, training volunteers at “Camp Obama.” He has continued his work at the Strategic Consulting Group, leading “many of the country’s most significant issue campaigns,” he claims. He was also at the White House state dinner last month—together with Stern, Axelrod, and other cronies—despite the fact that ex-convicts are usually barred from such events.

Creamer’s broader aim, as laid out in his book, is the “democratization of wealth” in America and “progressive control of governments around the world.” As he recently wrote on his blog at the Huffington Post: “If we succeed in winning health insurance reform we will have breached the gates of the status quo. We will demonstrate that fundamental change is possible. Into that breach will flow a wave of progressive change.”

It is a radical agenda, making use of Rep. Schakowsky’s public profile, a network of far-left organizations, and Creamer’s old friends in the White House. It began in federal prison, and has unfolded exactly as intended, over the protests of thousands of ordinary Americans across the nation. It will not end with health care. It will continue until Mr. Creamer’s Alinskyite dream of radical change is realized—or until voters stand up and put a stop to it in 2010.

Choice & Accountability

I don't look to Hollywood for my values or moral guidance; I do look to them for an escape of the day to day and entertainment. Admittedly, as a conservative both politically and culturally I find that the movies I am willing to spend the amount of money a ticket and the requisite popcorn and cherry coke run are few and far between but I have no grudge on Hollywood per say except for Michael Moore but then he doesn't actually count as Hollywood.

Whatever happened to personal choice? I don't need conservative pundits to tell me what I should or shouldn't do anymore than I need Hollywood to. There is a God given thing called free agency, will or choice whatever your religious bent chooses to call it. It is the right and dare I say responsibility that each of us has to make our own choices with the information we have at the time and then freely accept the consequences of those choices. So I go to movies and on some occasions much to the chagrin of my religious leaders I even see an "R" rated movie but again they are few and far between because for the most part I don't want my mind or soul polluted with that content. I don't order porn but I won't stop try to block anyone else from accessing it unless in the public library where children may have access to it or access to it or access would violate parole (yes, I believe that sexual deviants such as rapists, pedophiles etc should not be able to access the fuel of their deviance).  Similarly, I turn off Britney Spears' "3" an ode to threesomes when it comes on the radio but I vehemently support the freedom of all to listen to whatever content on the radio they wish -- if the Freedom Doctrine is passed choice is taken away from you -- not just the choice to listen to something but soon the choice not to as well.

Conservatives can't have it both ways ... you can't demand the freedom to have your perspective heard while drowning out the opposition to do so makes you just as hypocritical as the far left. True freedom means that you use your God given will and brain to make choices for yourself and your children but not for the rest of society.

You have the right to turn off or not see anything you like. Admittedly it is dangerous to close your eyes when driving down the freeway to avoid some billboards and I don't recommend doing so or even walking through a mall past A&F (Abercrombie & Fitch) which is known for peddling immodest and downright tasteless clothing that advertises everything from threesomes to porn targeting your tweens and teens; but you have the freedom not to patronize them, to write to their HQ and tell them your feelings and certainly to avoid their website.

Cherish to freedom to refuse as much as to choose. My mother, reminded us as we would walk out the door "remember who you are and what you stand for" she always reminded us that we had honor and that as Christians and Conservatives we had to live in the world but we didn't have to be part of it -- we had daily opportunities to set a good example or to take the easy route and fall into step with the world. We had a framed statement by our door; one that I have as well, it says "Return with Honor" the meaning come  to both your earthly and heavenly home with honor not shame for the choices made day to day and in this life.

Choice and Accountability my friends is the most precious thing we have been given. Unfortunately in today's world there is more emphasis on choice and less on accountability just as there is more on rights and less on responsibility but neither the government, nor Hollywood is primarily responsible for how you or your children respond to this message -- you as individuals and parents are responsible for your actions and to teach your children the values you want them to hold on to -- don't blame society if they don't -- look in the mirror at what kind of an example you are.

The people I look up to most are not those who were in picket lines or rallies taking up this or that cause; my heroes and heroines are people who lived their lives according to the dictates of their conscience they weren't afraid to make their views known but they never tried to curtail anyone else’s' freedom to partake.

If you go to a theater, restaurant or other venue and the content or an advertisement offends you; simply (and might I add quietly) go to the manager or owner of the venue and tell them "I have paid x amount for the time I spent here (my mom and dad were famous for putting a quarter on the table) but I and my family will not support an establishment that shows or advertises x" If you see a billboard or internet banner that is offensive to you, block the site and then call the owner of the establishment and tell them I have blocked your banner ads because of their content; I like your product but I cannot support you when you choose to allow advertising of  this manner"  the same goes for movies or TV shows. Do one or two letters make any difference?  Probably not but you have taken the time to make your view known.
The same goes for writing your member of congress 1 well written letter has been said to translate into 10,000 votes. So rather than sending in a petition sit down and write a thoughtful letter; site details not generalities (on x day I heard you say this on C-span or your voting record on x issue on x day).  I am writing you as a member of your constituency -- be sure to edit your content; nothing guarantees you will be taken less seriously than a letter that is heavy on rumors, light on facts and details and includes spelling or grammatical errors.

Libs take swipe at Advanced Practice Clinicians

URL: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34024233/ns/health-health_care/

My response:

With all due respect to Dr. Caplan as a Pre-Eminent Bioethicist; but I am awfully tired of academics and politicians assuming that yet another government bureaucracy is the answer the problems and pitfalls in the American healthcare system.

I am a Nurse Practitioner; I hold a master’s degree in nursing with a specialty in clinical education. I went on to earn a Post-Master’s Certificate as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from the University of Utah and another as a Family Nurse Practitioner from George Washington University. Just like a physician, I am required to maintain state licensure as well as national certification in all specialties, Federal DEA registration as well as earning a mandated number of continuing medical education units every year.

Prior to my graduate training I was a Registered Nurse for one of the premier healthcare systems in the nation; a healthcare system that was recently sited in the New York Times Magazine and applauded by the Obama administration because of high quality outcomes, use of evidence based medicine, lower costs and high patient satisfaction levels.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/08/magazine/08Healthcare-t.html?_r=1

This healthcare system is the pride of our community and a leader in many critical areas including cardiac, cancer, and trauma services.

http://intermountainhealthcare.org/about/overview/Pages/home.aspx

Hospitals & Health Networks magazine again included Intermountain in its annual ranking of America’s “Top 100 Most Wired Hospitals”— the eighth time in nine years. According to their researchers, hospitals on the list have superior medical outcomes, and information technology leads to higher-quality and lower-cost patient care.

In 2008, Intermountain Healthcare provided approximately $131 million in charity care, or free care to patients who can only partially pay or are unable to pay. That amount allowed nearly 217,000 patients and their families to focus on healing and not an impossible financial burden. And it eliminated the need for taxpayers to shoulder these costs.

We were the first hospital system to earn Magnet status from the ANCC for Nursing. Working as a charge RN on a 43 bed step-down ICU specializing in the care of Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Trauma and Solid Organ Transplant patients gave me the foundation for the excellent diagnostic skills that I need day to day in practice.   I am proud to say that I continue to work for this fine healthcare system as a Nurse Practitioner.

I take issue with the assertion, by Dr. Caplan, that I and my professional colleagues offer less quality healthcare. As anyone familiar with coding and billing knows, Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) can only legally bill for 85% of a physician’s fee although we provide 100% of the care. I am also offended being termed a “lesser trained physician extender” as this lumps a highly trained professional in the same pool as unlicensed personnel such as a medical assistant or certified nursing assistant. I take on the same liability as a physician when I assume the care of a patient, unlike unlicensed personnel.

If Dr. Caplan and for that matter MSNBC were truly interested in viable reform rather than simply making derogatory statements regarding healthcare professionals who are, at the grassroots level, actually implementing healthcare reform they would be publishing solutions rather than snarky opinion pieces.

The following underlying assumption is incorrect; a subtle attempt to insert a misstatement into the debate as if it were a fact.

Quote:

"By turning medicine into just another commodity, it is only natural that the price will be jacked up for what used to be the standard of care.”

Medicine is, has been, and will be, a commodity. It is produced by people, and cannot be a "non-commodity". Service or goods produced by people cannot be a "right" which is generally the direction the "medicine shouldn't be a commodity" crowd then goes.

True and viable healthcare reform can be achieved be quickly and relatively inexpensively by implementing the following steps, with special thanks to my partner in debate and my professional colleague Wayne Crawford, MPAS, PA-C:

4. Remove the barriers to increased use of Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) such as Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners; they provide 80% of the care, at the same quality, and for far less money than doctors.

5. Remove the interstate commerce barrier as it applies to insurance. This increases competition between insurance providers which will allow healthcare consumers to drive through demand a supply of affordable healthcare plans without destroying the free market based economy which is the natural result of controls through government intervention. Additionally, allow individuals to create their own insurance pools and allow these pools take advantage of the same tax benefits that businesses get for providing health benefits to employees; this creates truly portable insurance that is tied to the individual rather than their employment.

Implementing these 5 steps would yield the following results:

·         Health Care costs drop like a rock

·         Insurance premiums (including malpractice) become affordable

·         Access to care increases.

·         Medicare/Medicaid fades away

·         Taxes go down

·         Government budgets become reasonable

A local doctor in the city where I work has a modified urgent care concierge practice; the fee is 49.00 a month and each office visit is 5.00 he also offers a discounted family rate. There are many people who are uninsured, self-insured or have high deductible plans opting for this service because it meets their needs in a manner that a traditional plan does not. Tradition is fine in families and holidays; not so much in 21st century medicine.

It would be my suggestion that Dr. Caplan and his lap dogs at MSNBC check their facts before putting these sorts of pieces out. His article degrades and dismisses with a wide swath dedicated and professional clinicians in terming them “lesser trained” as well as creating the impression that Advanced Practice Clinicians are second rate to physicians and only see patients not worthy of a physician. While I recognize that it is his opinion it becomes touted as fact when truly it is fiction. On more than one occasion, patients who come into our walk in clinic ask if I will be their primary care provider because they feel valued and respected. They feel my empathy for their personal situation and empowered by the education offered.

There are many areas of medicine that are responding to the demands of healthcare consumers in dynamic and creative ways. Just because it smacks of retail doesn’t make it unethical; it just makes it different. Shifting our paradigm is necessary if we are to survive. Clinicians must be dynamic, flexible and willing to change our mindsets to meet the needs of our patients not our own egos.

Unplugged, Unleashed or Unhinged??

It's difficult to tell what a politician *really* thinks anymore.  I have a hard time believing that Romney could be this foolish, but maybe I have been deluded all this time ...

As an ardent supporter of Israel and the Jewish people, I have been asked if, as a Mormon, my political loyalties will continue to lie with Mitt Romney.  My answer to this is an unequivocal NO.  Just because Romney is Mormon doesn't mean that I would abandon my support for Israel.  He made a very foolish statement in a speech.  I believe that he will lose alot of support over this, however that is his problem, not mine.  I sent the following information to his PAC website in an attempt to educate him about the link between Islam and Jihad and the very real threat it poses to America, Israel, the Jewish people and really all of Western Civilization.  I am of the belief that the RNC handlers have gotten to Romney and tried to moderate him even further than he was in the past.  This of course is a losing proposition, if anything, the Republican Party needs to return to the first principles of conservatism and draw an even starker difference between the two parties.  So here is my statement, as an American Conservative an individual who is a faithful Mormon and a vehement supporter of Israel.

Kimberly

To whom it may concern:

If Governor Romney was serious in this statement then this may well go down as one of the most foolish things ever uttered by a politician.  To suggest that there is no link between Islam and jihad is as ludicrous as to suggest that there was no link between the Crusades and Christianity.  Certainly there was a link.  The Christians of the middle ages did what they did in the name of the cross and the jihadists of today do what they do in the name not of jihad but of Islam.  The difference is that Christians stopped slaughtering people who refused to submit in the middle ages, thanks to the fantastic contributions of Islam to modern society Islam now functions in the 15th century.  It is time to face reality, there would be no jihad without the foundation of Islam.  There are 164 verses in the Koran that inspire the adherents of Islam to jihad, before making such a statement it would be wise to brush up on the facts and history.  You cannot in anyway try to view Islam through the lens of Christianity nor can you impose Western values on tribalist nations, it has never worked and I doubt it ever will.

As a former Romney '08 volunteer, I have to think again before I could support him for another bid for the White House.  I will never again support an apologists, such a George W. Bush, Condoleeza Rice, and Colin Powell for the religion that has been and continues to be responsible for the spread of terror and the threat against America and Israel.  I don't know that I can support Romney if he keeps up with this foolish talk.  There is a very definite connection between Islam and the jihadists -- you can't have one without the other -- the jihadists believe that they are "true Muslims" and any who deny the call to jihad are heretics.  The call to jihad is in the Koran and it is naive to pretend otherwise.  The leaders of several Muslim majority countries call for the annihilation of the Jews and the destruction of America and Israel and they do it not in the name of Jihadism but of Islam.

Mitt Romney seems to have fallen into the trap of the RNC handlers, frankly I thought he was smarter than to let them control him in this manner.  I have been very disappointed in Romney since his ‘Extreme Makeover’ courtesy of the RNC.  The RNC is going to play him and make him into the 2012 McCain.  I believe this was part of the deal for him stepping out of the '08 campaign 'gracefully' and allowing McCain to be the nominee.  Romney will be wrecked by this sort of handling -- he would be better off to tell the RNC that he is going to run as a principled conservative. This next election is going to be the RNC trying another 'rescue Gilligan' act -- remaking the Republican Party AGAIN -- the problem is they keep liberalizing and not creating a real choice for voters.  True liberals will always choose the real thing when offered 'liberal light' (Dole, George W. Bush) The nonsense known as 'compassionate conservatism was nothing more thasn liberalism wrapped in the flag.

What we need is a presidential candidate who has the moral courage and intellectual integrity to stand up and say:

"The religion of Islam may portend to be one of peace and enlightenment, but it is not.  It is a bloodthirsty religion that seeks a worldwide caliphate through submission or the sword.  The pages of history are splattered with the truth of Islam.  Now, we have an even more radicalized form of this so called religion, that of the jihadists who slink into and get converts from the dredges of society the prison system and seek to destroy Western Civilization, particularly America and Israel.  There are those who will make excuses for Islam, I will not.  The religion of Islam must take responsibility for being the foundation of jihadist movement, for fostering and nurturing it, the international community demands the adherents of Islam control them and to end the assault against the Western World within their own ranks.  Until Islam undertakes this most serious task and eradicates jihad from its rank and file there can never be peace.  Until Islam does this we are at war with you and your ideologues and mark my words ... we will win."

How many German people were true Nazis?

A German's Point of View on Islam by Carlton-Ross
http://hasidicrebbele.blogspot.com/2008/07/when-asked-how-many-german-people-were.html

November 10, 2007 01:00 PM EST

A German's point of view on Islam

A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

"Very few people were true Nazis"he said," but many enjoyed the return of German pride, andmany more were too busy to care.I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools.

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:

Peace-loving Muslims (people) have been made irrelevant by their silence.

Peace-loving Muslims (Americans) will become (the) our enemy if they don't speak up, because, like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them and the end of their world will have begun.

Mitt Romney: Jihadism Is Not Part of Islam
June 03, 2009
Dan Gilgoff, God & Country

With Obama's big speech to the Muslim world in the offing, I asked Mitt Romney in an interview yesterday about a major speech on national security that he gave on Monday at the Heritage Foundation. In it, Romney referred to Islam only insofar as he referred to "jihadism," a term he used four times in the address, and to "mullahs" and "ayatollahs."
I asked Romney how he'd respond to Muslim complaints that his speech characterized Islam in entirely sinister terms. His response surprised me:

I didn't refer to Islam at all, or to any other religion for that matter. I spoke about three major threats America faces on a long term basis. Jihadism is one of them, and that is not Islam. If you want my views on Islam, it's quite straightforward. Islam is one of the world's great religions and the great majority of people in Islam want peace for themselves and peace with their maker. They want to raise families and have a bright future.

There is, however, a movement in the world known as jihadism. They call themselves jihadists and I use the same term. And this jihadist movement is intent on causing the collapse of moderate Muslim states and the assassination of moderate Muslim leaders. It is also intent on causing collapse of other nations in the world. It's by no means a branch of Islam. It is instead an entirely different entity. In no way do I suggest it is a part of Islam.
Romney sees no connection whatsoever between Islam and the jihadists? Experts often say that Islamic terrorists are promoting a distorted version of Islam, but they seldom claim that there's no connection between the religious tradition and the jihadists who claim to act in that tradition's name.

The Heritage Foundation itself has issued papers and sponsored events on "radical Islam," "revolutionary Islam," and "militant Islam." Would Romney argue that none of these phenomena are related to Islam but rather constitute an entirely distinct phenomenon called jihadism?

This IS the Message -- Is the leadership *listening*

The people are talking, the question is will it get through to those on the Republican "listening tour"???

Will GOP Follow Moderates Into Oblivion?

Posted By Christopher Adamo On May 8, 2009 @ 4:35 am

Efforts to make the party more appealing by mimicking the Democrats will neither ingratiate the party to the news anchors nor inspire voters to rally to it.

Republican stalwarts are fond of recalling the 1992 Democrat National Convention, and the manner in which Bob Casey, Sr., the Governor of Pennsylvania, was prevented from giving a speech on account of his strident pro-life views. Here was the incontrovertible proof that Democrats censor and oppress those who do not toe the party line.

What is rarely recalled is that, four years later in the Republican National Convention, the official party policy was to avoid any mention whatsoever of the entire abortion issue. GOP candidate Bob Dole sought to sidestep controversy that party insiders feared might be overly "divisive," since that is how the major media and the Democrats portrayed defining moral issues such as abortion. With the conservative base thoroughly dispirited by this and a host of similar actions, Dole lost that race, leaving the Republicans to flounder for another four years.

Dole's fate was consistent with the pattern of Republican presidential candidates and their regard for conservatism in general. Those who boldly and unabashedly carried the conservative "torch" have done well, while any who attempt to "move to the center" and "find common ground" with the Left will be abandoned by conservative voters. John McCain, while claiming to do both, succeeded at neither. And his electoral results proved it.

Herein lies the picture of a losing Republican "strategy" to which its liberal members doggedly cling, despite results that have been consistently disastrous over the years. Every attempt to water down the GOP platform, in a futile quest to widen its appeal, has had exactly the opposite effect. Seeking to portray themselves as standing for everything, such self-serving party insiders are rightly recognized as standing for nothing.

Nevertheless, an infuriatingly effective ruse from media liberals and Democrat political hacks has been to convince congressional Republicans to "moderate" (read: accommodate the liberal agenda). When voters exhibit their outrage by abandoning such Republicans at the polls, those same Democrats assert loudly that the party is still "too conservative" and thus needs to drink more of the poison that has been killing it. Cowardice, whether in day to day life or in the political arena, is by definition easy to manipulate. Thus the most timid Republicans can be counted upon to follow this lead.

Arlen Specter's recent official abandonment of the Republican Party (as opposed to the unofficial manner in which he has been doing so for years) provides a powerful case in point. Since Specter made his announcement to switch to the Democrats, liberal activists such as James Carville have predictably insisted that the move represents undeniable proof of an excessively narrow governing philosophy among the Republicans. Thus, we are told, the only winning strategy is for the GOP to move even further left, in order to accommodate the likes of Specter.

"Conventional wisdom," stubbornly promoted by the ruling class on both sides of the aisle, insists that the ultimate purpose of a political party is to get its members elected to office. In truth, such a notion represents defining evidence of a party in decline. The founding purpose of a political party is always to advance a particular set of ideas. The chances of those ideas being adopted as public policy will increase with greater popular support and the strength that lies in numbers; a party is established to move the particular banner forward.

Unfortunately, at some point along the way, those doing the moving and shaking inevitably shift their focus from "the cause" to their own fortunes, at which point the true ideology that undergirded their formation into a party is likely to take a back seat to the presumed pragmatism of the moment.

It is at this juncture that the present day Republican Party is completely foundering, and will continue to do so unless its reins can be seized by a cabal of true conservatives who are neither willing to accept a thoroughly biased view of the world as presented on the nightly news, or cowed by the inevitable personal attacks against them from the Left. Efforts to make the party more appealing by mimicking the Democrats will neither ingratiate the party to the news anchors nor inspire voters to rally to it. Who could be expected to derive inspiration from a cheap imitation of the hard-left, when the real thing is readily available from the Democrats?

It is wholly frustrating to the conservative base that the road to Republican victory lies so blatantly in front of myopic party insiders, yet they refuse to recognize it. In the wake of Bill Clinton's 1992 electoral mandate with its "resounding" forty-eight percent of the vote, Newt Gingrich rallied his party to adopt a conservative manifesto known as the "Contract With America." Despite media coverage that was universally disparaging, Gingrich led the Republicans to a stunning victory in the 1994 mid-term elections.

Had Gingrich remained true to his principles, he may well have thoroughly routed the Democrats, including Bill Clinton, in 1996. It was only when he as House Speaker, along with then Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole, essentially validated Clinton's fiscally excessive policies by caving in to him on the 1995 budget showdown that Republican momentum was rebuffed.

A similar opportunity exists for Republicans now, if a sufficient number have the courage and forthrightness to recognize and seize upon it. Americans are no more enthused at the prospect of Republican "cooperation" with the Left than they were in 2006 or 2008. And despite media stories to the contrary, a considerable backlash against the severe overindulgences of the Obama Administration looms.

Whether or not that sentiment ever coalesces into a renewed Republican vitality will depend solely on the character of party leaders, who can either listen to the discredited "moderate experts" and consign themselves to permanent minority status, or seize the moment on behalf of traditional America and ride it to victory.

My Wish List For America

So Glenn Beck started "America's Wish List" on his website www.the912project.com
Personally, I think it's a grand idea -- it's about time that we, the people, got loud and
proud about what we expect of our government.  The current administration and dare I
say the MAJORITY of the Congress are a bunch of lily livered cowards who are all too
willing to chuck the Constiutution into the fire and become a part of the Euro-weasle Union.
Well, I for one mailed my tea bags (I hope my Congressmen enjoyed a lovely cuppa on me).
and I am taking 2 hours off of work on Tax Day to be one of the millions who are declaring in
one UNIFIED voice ... ENOUGH ...               Newsflash for BHO

The United States was founded on the priciples of Christianity not a nation of citizens ....
and Islam has done exactly ZILCH for this country ... unless you count the importation
of terrorists, shariah approved honor killings and money laundering operations ... not exactly
anything to be proud of ... but I digress ....

So far the first 90 days of this administration have been one huge apology tour -- with our "fearless leader" bowing and scraping to every two bit dictator across the globe ... it's just disgusting ....

Here is what I am not sorry for:
  • Liberating Europe
  • Liberating Korea
  • Liberating Iraq (although we took way too damn long to do it)
But yes, there are things I am sorry for ... among them ...
  • Allowing the UN to remain on US soil
  • Remaining a part of NATO -- I think those self-righteous Europeans can protect themselves by now
  • Not having the guts to overturn Roe v Wade and allowing the state sponsorship of the MURDER of millions of innocent children
  • Leaving Vietnam in a shambles and allowing the slaughter of those people by communists
  • Allowing Kosovo, a Muslim majority country, in the heart of Europe
  • Pushing for Turkey, who committed genocide against the Armenians and continue to persecute Christians to join the EU and NATO
  • Fighting against the Serbian Christians when they were waging war against Muslim Jihadists
  • Propping up the Taliban against the Russians in the 80's
  • Not obliterating Lebanon after they MURDERED our Marines
  • Not obliterating every vestige of Crapistan after 9/11
  • Not declaring that our enemy is indeed Islam, for without Islam there would be no jihad.
  • Electing Carter, Clinton, Bush 43 and Obama.  Bush 43's "compassionate conservatism was just liberalism wrapped in the flag and it was his policies that paved the way for the obamination we are headed for ...
So here it is ... My Wish list for America ... I hope you enjoy it and give some thought to your own wish list then write it down and send it off to your Congressperson ... let them know that this is still a government "of the people, by the people and for the people" that their job in the halls of government is part time and temporary and that if they continue to act in so reckless a manner that they will be fired come next election day -- it's not a threat, it's a promise.  Stand up for yourself against the tyrants of today ... you owe it to your children and grandchildren ....

My Wish List for America

       I.            Health& Human Services

1.      No babies for money.  Welfare benefits are fixed at the time of enrollment and will NOT increase with the birth of additional children.

4.      Remove the barriers to increased use of mid level providers such as Physician Assistants; they provide 80% of the care, at the same quality, and for far less money than doctors.

Results: Health Care costs drop like a rock; insurance premiums (including malpractice) become affordable, and access to care increases. Additionally, Medicare/Medicaid fade away, taxes go down, government budgets become reasonable.

 III.            Foreign Relations

1.      USA out of UN, and NATO.  UN out of the USA.  We owe them nothing!  We apologize for NOTHING.

2.      The United States will not recognize the authority of the “World Court”, “International Community”, Human Rights Organizations or the Geneva Convention with regards as to how enemy combatants or terrorists are interrogated or incarcerated.

3.      The United States will ask permission of no “International Body” in order to protect and defend our borders, citizens or national interests.

c.       Fluency in English is required prior to graduation from high school

d.      Basic understanding of English and the ability to take a citizenship test in English, and pass with a MINIMUM of 90% will be required for immigration to the United States.

2.      National Flat tax

3.      No corporate welfare – if they can’t make it in a Capitalist system there is a legal out; bankruptcy.

VII.            Energy

1.      End America’s dependence on foreign oil – Drill Here Drill Now

2.      End the power of the EPA to stop offshore drilling, and sale of land within states for clean development (i.e. oil shale reserves on state or federal land).

5.      Eliminate Judicial Activism.  Open judges up to not only a retention vote but also a recall vote that will remove them from the bench for abuse of power.  In other words, control whacked out judges through a check and balance system by the people.

6.      If a member of Congress writes a budget line item that is passed into law it must take effect during their term in office and it expires at the end of their term in office; no holdovers.

7.      Eliminate pork/pet projects.  Any earmark placed within a bill must directly relate to the parent bill.

a.      If it is an economic stimulus bill then each and every earmark must list how it will stimulate the economy by which benchmarks it will be measured and a time line for re-assessment

b.      If it is a defense spending bill it must state how it will benefit the military and how it will meet the criteria of protecting and defending the constitution and/or citizens of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic.

5.      Eliminate the National Endowment for the Arts; again, if the project is worthwhile it will be funded by private donors.

6.      ONE appeal for a criminal; no more abusing the judicial system with endless appeals.

     X.            Voting

1.      All voters must be registered and verified as eligible to vote 3 months prior to a given election.

2.      No more Individual State Primaries or Caucuses.  There will be a national primary and a national general election.

3.      Every registered voter will be issued an ATM like voter card that will have 4 tiers of verification prior to their vote being validated.

a.      Picture

b.      Embedded demographics (Name, DOB, Address, SSN, DL#)

c.       PIN (Unique)

d.      Finger print/retinal scan

4.      Machines will be nationwide but your local elections will come up when you insert your card and your vote will be credited to your home district.  This eliminates the need for absentee ballots.

5.      Registered voters will be notified of polling machines locations including domestic, foreign, or on military bases.

6.      Anyone attempting to fraudulently vote will trip security system in the machine to suck up your card with a notice that says:

Help Wanted

Help Wanted: A Congressional Reminder

It’s time to get honest with ourselves. The Republican National Committee has worse taste in candidates than I have had in boyfriends and boy have I dated some doozies. After George H.W. Bush’s tax gaff and his failure to launch a kill strike on Saddam Hussein, we got Clinton, then we allowed ourselves to be duped into running Bob Dole and while he was a good senator an honorable fellow and WW2 veteran he wasn’t a closer when it came to a Presidential race. After eight years of the Clinton 3 ring circus it was time to try a re-tread of the same blue print. We ran another Bush. Silly us we assumed that George W. Bush was a conservative. How could we be so stupid? It’s not like he didn’t have a track record of capitulating in Texas. Then again, Democrats in Texas are Republicans in Minnesota. So he was touted as being a coalition builder. We bought into his snake oil salesman pitch of being a “compassionate conservative” the very statement makes me want to lose my lunch.  The reality is that “compassionate conservatism” was nothing more than liberalism wrapped in the flag. George W. Bush blew so many ‘golden opportunities’ it’s just silly. So here are just a few:

1.    After the heinous Saudi sponsored terrorist attacks on our soil he came up with the brilliant strategy that Americans should continue to shop and travel – to keep the engine of the economy going – well now with 20/20 hindsight we know where that idea got us …

2.    Medicare Drug Benefit – one of the biggest government entitlement programs designed and we have NO way to pay for it.

3.    No Child Left Behind – Great idea George – teach to a test rather than tried and true principles. While I appreciate your attempt to take on the Teacher’s Union and weeding out teachers who were worthless, this was not the way to do it. What we needed was expanded Charter Schools and a National School Voucher Program so that parents could use their tax dollars to send their child to private schools.

4.    Failure to name our enemy – Islam – and instead going out of your way to embrace domestic enemies through the likes of CAIR.

5.    A totally mismanaged “War on Terror” … Because you were afraid of offending your Saudi business contacts and failed to name the enemy you allowed the UN and the media to run the war rather than the military until it was damn near too late. Shock and Awe became a bumper sticker. The very notion of ‘nation building’ in the Middle East is ludicrous. We should have done a Dresden Style Attack on Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Iran simultaneously and airdropped the rest of the Islamic world sample bottles of Kaopectate. The message: You attack us, we destroy you …

6.    The economy … well what can be said he started us on the road to the destruction of the free market, capitalism, and private industry. He started the bailout and nationalization of banks and industries that would have been better served by declaring bankruptcy, getting out of toxic contracts with unions and re-organizing. The problem with government is that they are into instant gratification (can we call that a Monica?) rather than allowing the market to correct for bubbles and baubles.

Ok, enough of Bush and his failures … History will judge him and I don’t think it will be kind.

The Republicans under the Bush administration screwed the pooch big time. They were a rudderless ship in a squall. We watched them carry the water for the Bush policies and we lost in midterm elections and in the Presidential year. The Republicans have become impotent not only because they lost their majority standing in both the House and the Senate but also because they gave up the principles that got them elected in the first place. They drifted to the middle, buying into the “lie of the day” that moderation would allow them to keep their jobs.

I am not convinced that the “Party of Lincoln” the “GOP” will ever make a come back. I think we are finished. There are no “rising stars” that are principled enough to take this party in the direction it needs to go. The elitists in this party and the “conventional wisdom” from within will be the death of us. The only hope we have is for a viable 3rd party of true conservatives who are disciplined enough to return to the principles of conservatism. I am not talking about fringe groups; I am talking about getting back to our foundation. I am not talking about a make-over of the existing party but the birth of a new one – a phoenix rising from the ashes, so to speak.

Below are the 9 Principles and 12 Values of the 912 project.  Special thanks to Glenn Beck for his grassroots work on this.  Visit the website at:  www.the912project.com
9 Principles

1.

America Is Good.

2.

I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.

God “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the external rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” from George Washington’s first Inaugural address.

3.

I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.

Honesty “I hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider to be the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.” George Washington

4.

The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.

Marriage/Family “It is in the love of one’s family only that heartfelt happiness is known. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family.” Thomas Jefferson

5.

If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.

Justice “I deem one of the essential principles of our government… equal and exact justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political.” Thomas Jefferson

6.

I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.

Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of Happiness “Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence.” Thomas Jefferson

7.

I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.

Charity “It is not everyone who asketh that deserveth charity; all however, are worth of the inquiry or the deserving may suffer.” George Washington

8.

It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.

On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.” George Washington

9.

The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

Who works for whom? “I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all authority in that nation.” Thomas Jefferson

12 Values

  • Honesty
  • Reverence
  • Hope
  • Thrift
  • Humility
  • Charity
  • Sincerity
  • Moderation
  • Hard Work
  • Courage
  • Personal Responsibility
  • Gratitude

All of the principles of Conservatism fit within these 9 Principles and 12 Values. It’s time that Congress gets on the same page as the people of this nation. That we put our National Security, Our National Interests, our National Sovereignty ahead of their desire to keep a job that was only supposed to be a temp job anyway. The founding fathers never imagined that we would have career politicians; it would be an affront and an obscenity to them. It is time to clean house – the entire house. If you want to keep your job then prove it and earn it … there is NO Tenure track any more. We the people are tired of this globalism of the internationals being allowed to dictate our policies. We believe that in order to be a Superpower, once again that we will not capitulate to the UN or to NATO. We do not need nor do we require the world’s permission to defend our sphere of influence. We demand that our government stop living in a utopian pipe dream and start answering to the real threats facing us. We demand that you, congress, represent us or submit your resignation. There are many Americans looking for a job these days and I am betting more than one of them could do a better job than some of you. This is reality … do your job or get pink-slipped. We’ve had just about enough.

Pieces of the Peace Process

  Pieces of the “Peace” Process

The New York Times, that bastion of liberal guilt that makes even Jews hate themselves has published yet another scream against Israel. In the famous words of Gomer Pyle, USMC … “Surprise, surprise, surprise!”

Read it all here: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/27/opinion/27fri1.html?_r=2&ref=opinion

This writing though is going to be focused “like a laser beam” on taking this nonsense apart – paragraph by paragraph -- and exposing liberalisms naked bias against Israel with clarity and intellectual honesty so that even those with only the mildest interest in the Middle East will be able to identify it.

According to the NY Times Editorial requires the following in order for Israel to be considered “A Partner for Peace”

1.       Negotiate with the Palestinian Authority for Peace

a.      Israelhas been negotiating with the Palestinian Authority and Fatah under the auspices of The United States State Department for years. They continued to concede their rightful and sovereign territory even to the detriment of their own people and national security not to mention national interests. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice demanded that Israel buy into the “Two State Solution” and “The Road Map to Peace” even though there was no commitment to peace from the Palestinian Authority or Fatah.    For more information on the history of the “Two State Solution” read the following excellent article by Victor Sharpe In The American Thinkerhttp://www.americanthinker.com/2009/03/the_two_state_solution_is_87_y.html

b.      In fact, Fatah is as much a militant terrorist organization as Hamas is the only difference is that the Fatah terrorists show up at United Nations meetings in suits and ties; this makes them “acceptable” even though they are just as vehemently committed to the destruction not only of Israel as a country but the Jewish people as a whole as Hamas, Hezbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda et al.

What liberals fail to admit is that Islam is the foundation of this virulent hatred of Israel and the Jews, and they are 100% committed to the annihilation of both; in order for there to be a “partnership for peace” there has to be more than one party at the negotiating table. I would like one person to show me concrete evidence of even one commitment to peace that the Palestinians have kept. You cannot because it simply does not exist. The Palestinians are committed to one thing and one thing only and that is maintaining their global status as victims because it works for them. Liberals love to make the Jews and Israel look bad because it works for them even though there is absolutely no basis in reality for their position.

2.      Freezing further settlement construction and expansion in the West Bank

a.      By this logic the best way to eliminate the squalor the Palestinians choose to live in is to destroy the towns that the Jews are building in their own sovereign territory.   The Palestinians choose to live in their “refugee” camps because then the liberal human rights activists will spotlight the nasty, mean and cruel Israelis. The Palestinians have a country all their own and it is not within the borders of sovereign Israel. The Palestinian people belong to Egypt and Jordan. Neither country wants them, why you may ask? Put very simply it is because by and large the Palestinians are trouble makers, thugs and criminals that threaten the peace and security of those nations. In their mind it is easier and ultimately more beneficial to their cause to prop up a war with Israel than to demand that the Palestinians assimilate into their society and play by the rules of civilization rather than tribal terrorism.

b.      The Jews have every right to this land and the Palestinians are nothing more than “squatters” on the land. The Jews have obtained all the permits required by not only Israeli but International Law in order to build communities and yet they are vilified. They live in fear that even after obtaining these permits to build that the IDF will be sent in by the liberal Defense Minister Ehud Barak to destroy their homes and communities.

3.      He should lift roadblocks between Palestinian cities and towns that are not needed for security.

a.      Exactly which roadblocks are not needed for security? Each time Israel has lifted roadblocks security checkpoints into Israel terrorist attacks have increased. I am sensitive to how inconvenient it is for the Palestinians who benefit from working in Israel to be held up in long lines, but I would remind all the readers here that it is pretty damn inconvenient to be blown up when you walk into a mall, a restaurant, a hotel, a school or get on a bus too. When the Palestinians call for and succeed in ending their proclivity for terrorism and suicide/homicide bombings then we can talk about lifting roadblocks and eliminating security checkpoints. I assure you the Jews aren’t excited about living in a country that requires them to be scanned every time they want to go into the grocery store. Here in America, we complain about being scanned and having to take off our shoes in the airport, can you even imagine living in a country that has experienced so many terrorist attacks against them that you would have to go through these same security measures to pick up a gallon of milk? Would you stand for such measures unless you were committed to peace? Of course not, you would initiate whatever it takes to curtail the problem.

4.      In East Jerusalem, he should stop the humiliating eviction of Palestinians.

a.      Stop the humiliating eviction of Palestinians? My God, can we please just visit reality for a moment? These Palestinians are building illegally without permits in East Jerusalem. They are squatters! This is no different than if your neighbor foreclosed on their home and a homeless person moved in; why is it humiliating to evict a criminal? Why are we supposed to feel sorry for those who break the law?

5.      In Gaza, he must expand exceptions to the blockade to allow the import of cement and reconstruction materials.

a.      Do you know what the Palestinians in Gaza are building with the building materials and cement allowed to come through? They aren’t rebuilding schools, grocery stores, or even homes; no they are using these materials to rebuild the tunnels used to smuggle weapons used for attacks against Israel in terrorist attacks against civilians. To suggest that Israel allow materials that will be used in their annihilation is not only stupid it is obscene.

6.      He will not get in the way of the militant group Hamas entering a Palestinian unity government with the rival Fatah faction--as long as that government is committed to preventing terrorism and accepts past agreements between Israel and the Palestinians.

a.      The day Hamas, Hezbollah, Fatah, The Muslim Brotherhood, Al Queda et al will commit to prevent terrorism and accept past agreements with Israel and the Palestinians is the day we all sit down and eat a pulled pork sandwich – it isn’t gonna happen folks – these are terrorist organizations to even suggest they would give up and prevent further terrorist attacks is just silly utopian fantasy born of sparking up a dooby in some Chelsea basement coffee shop.

7.      He will recognize that the United States has its own interests in diplomacy with Syria, Iran and the Palestinians — and allow the Obama administration the freedom to pursue them.

a.      The United States has no national interests in diplomacy with states that sponsor and import terrorism.

b.      The United States certainly has sphere of influence in the Middle East. Politically, however, it has become trendy to attempt to broker a peace agreement there, regardless of how fragile or how it betrayed our one true ally in the region because it would make us look good in front of the UN and the “International Community”. Every administration since Carter has tried to broker a ‘midnight deal’ all of which have been an unmitigated disaster not because of Israel’s failure to play but because the Palestinians have no intention of ever being serious about peace.

8.      He also will not start a preventive war with Iran.

a.      In the early 80’s Israel destroyed the nuclear reactor built by Saddam Hussein; is there any sane person today who is not eternally grateful for that ‘preemptive’ attack? Of course not; at the time though Israel was vilified. Iran and their insane leader will lie, cheat and steal their way to a nuclear weapon. We know they have no intention of utilizing this technology for infrastructure. The leading international intelligence agencies know that Iran, just like North Korea, is interested only in one thing being the country with the nuclear weapon who can take out Israel and then the United States.  “First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people” is their mantra and even if they choose not to use it themselves they will sell it to the highest bidding terrorist organization. We should be begging Israel to take out Iran, since we don’t have the guts to do it ourselves.

Since when does standing up for your national security, national interests and national sovereignty make you the evil empire? Since when is it smart to allow those committed to your annihilation free reign within your borders? How come, if you are a liberal, the only litmus for being serious about peace is surrendering to your enemy, giving up all national sovereignty and becoming a vassal state to a "culture" that has not only made overtures but has out right said that it would annihilate not only the country but your entire people?

How is it that the only proof of a commitment to peace is national suicide?  When will the other side be held to this same standard?  When all the Palestinians give up EVERYTHING  and KILL THEMSELVES then I will know THEY are serious about peace -- see how ridiculous this sounds when you turn the tables -- the NY Times would NEVER suggest such an asinine thing and yet they have no reservation in suggesting the Netanyahu go before his people and say -- "I am serious about peace with the Arab world; therefore since it is Passover, except this time instead of leaving Egypt, we are going to leave Israel and head south -- when we get to the Reed Sea, instead of asking

G-d to split it so we can cross on dry land we are all just going to drown ourselves because this will show all the liberals in the international community how serious we are about peace."

This anti-Zionist attitude is used to cover up the naked anti-Semitism within liberalism. That so many American Jews buy into this sort of self-hatred is just disgusting.

Hey Genius ...

A friend sent me a link to the Contentions section of Commentary Magazine this morning.  After reading it, I couldn't agree more with the contention .... I have included the statement and my own spin on it ....

Commentary of the Day

Kejda Gjermani - 03.17.2009 - 6:02 PM

Martin Adamson, on Jennifer Rubin:

Once again, team Obama’s insularity and lack of curiosity about the external world come back to punish him. If he had taken the time to ask, Gordon Brown could have advised him about exactly this question, because here in Britain the single biggest political issue for the last two months has been pay and bonuses for the staff of nationalised banks. But of course Obama is such a transcendent genius that he has nothing to learn from anybody on any subject whatever.

This is EXACTLY right -- More evidence of the arrogance of his inexperience.
In all the years that I worked in a teaching hospital, it wasn't the physician who didn't know the answer you feared -- they would go, look it up or ask a collegue and get back to you  -- the physician you feared most was the one who was too arrogant to seek another opinion, listen to anything you, as a nurse had to offer, or brushed off your concern.  If Obama were a surgeon, I would be afraid -- VERY afraid.

As an American, I fear because this President is pissing in the wind -- He has his hand in every pot in the kitchen and he is such a control freak that he is trying to micromanage every aspect of the administration.  Had he bothered to be a serious student of history, he would have seen that in addition to fatally flawed policies that this was the downfall of "Jimmah Cahtah" aka Jimmy Carter as well.

Our enemies and allies alike are watching in his "breaking in" -- I assure you that they are waiting for the real crisis to occur the one where the training wheels will have to come off ... Our enemies are waiting in the wings gleefully rubbing their hands to gether -- they smell the weakness, the blood in the water so to speak -- they understand that Obama is a puppet of David Axelrod and Rahm Emmanual -- that he doesn't have a clue what he's doing and that he probably is incapable of picking out clothes for the day with out Michelle's say so -- not that he would dare!

Our allies are sweating bullets because they will have to be the ones to save our skin -- they know they can't rely on experience, logic or even cool sound reasoning from the presidential advisers -- why?  Because this "transcendent genius" has handpicked every leftist pinko radical to be in his cabinet -- even the "conservatives/republicans" he has kept on are hopeless Bush leftovers who helped bring this country to it's knees in the waning days of the Presidency bringing a whole new meaning to the term "lame duck President".

So this is why I fear arrogance combined with inexperience.  This is why I fear glib and personality over substance.  If you want to know where leaders with arrogance, inexperience, glib and personality have taken their countries -- go back to Germany of the 1930's (Hitler) Cuba in the 1950's (Castro) and Venezuela today (Chavez) and of course that bastion of human rights and progress Zimbabwe (Mugambe).  I wonder if the people of these countries could go back in time knowing then what they know now if they would allow the masses of populism, of progress for progress' sake allow their countries to be run over by smooth talkers with great presence but no substance ...

We are about to join the ranks of these countries ... Will we be smart enough to avoid allowing nationalism to overtake sanity and stop a holocaust? Will we be strong enough to withstand the pie crust promises of socialism?  Will we demand that our Constitution be kept intact so that our president cannot take on the role of the 'elected king' and declare himself in power for all time so long as he "wins" elections?  Will we have the discipline to withstand our government when they declare Marshall law and walk over every right we hold dear?  I certainly hope so -- but remember, remember that the core characteristic that each of these madmen had in common was/is an overweening ego and arrogance.

The greatest leaders are those who know they don't know everything and can learn from someone elses experience.  Humility is not weakness, taking time to make a decision doe not make you a fool or a buffoon, and seeking wisdom gleaned from the pages of history does not make you less of a leader -- it simply means that you know your place and you are willing to wear the mantel of leadership for a period and then pass it on, content to join the ranks of those who have gone before you.

Republicans would be well served to remember our own distinguished history.  Conservative principles, core principles, self discipline and a comittment to the people of this country is what has been our strong suit.  When we abandoned our principles in favor of the big tent mentality trying to be everything to everyone we lost our focus and our resolve.  We abandoned the very principled behavior that set use apart from the liberal lemmings who were all too happy to follow a leader off a cliff in search of a crisis.  If we are ever to see the day when we can once again lead this country back to greatness we must be willing to tell certain groups who are unable or unwilling to accept our core principles to find another party.  We must be willing to ask the voters to conform to us rather than us morphing into the blob from outer space without any focus or discipline.

Change begins with one person taking one action ...

Here is some hope and change you can REALLY believe in ...

National Talk Show Radio Host Glen Beck is reminding people that real and lasting change starts with the individual.  The individual empowered with an idea and the resolve to take action, first in their own life, then within their social circle, their community, their state, their nation .... It all begins with getting back to our core principles ... I invite you to see if this is something you can adopt into your lives ...

Mission Statement

This website is a place for you and other like-minded Americans looking for direction in taking back the control of our country. It is also a place to find information that will assist you in navigating the rough waters we face in the days, weeks and months ahead.

We suggest that you start in your own homes.  Talk to your family about the Values and Principles.  Discuss the importance of what the Founders designed for America.

Hold or attend a weekly meeting in your neighborhood or town. Communication with your neighbors is vital to the process of protecting our country.  Gather in living rooms, coffee houses or restaurants.  Share your thoughts and ideas.

Visit this website often.  Make use of the resources that are linked here.  Share the ideas and resources that have worked in your home or town.

This is a non-political movement. The 9-12 Project is designed to bring us all back to the place we were on September 12, 2001. The day after America was attacked we were not obsessed with Red States, Blue States or political parties. We were united as Americans, standing together to protect the greatest nation ever created.

That same feeling – that commitment to country is what we are hoping to foster with this idea. We want to get everyone thinking like it is September 12th, 2001 again.

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do you watch the direction that America is being taken in and feel powerless to stop it?
  • Do you believe that your voice isn’t loud enough to be heard above the noise anymore?
  • Do you read the headlines everyday and feel an empty pit in your stomach…as if you’re completely alone?

If you’ve answered YES, then you’ve fallen for the Wizard of Oz lie. While the voices you hear in the distance may sound intimidating, as if they surround us from all sides—the reality is very different. Once you pull back the curtain,  you realize that there are only a few people pressing the buttons, and their voices are weak. The truth is that they don’t surround us at all.

We surround them.

At the origin of America, our Founding Fathers built this country on 28 powerful principles. These principles were culled from all over the world and from centuries of great thinkers. We have distilled the original 28 down to the 9 basic principles.

So, how do we show America what’s really behind the curtain? Read the nine simple principles. If you believe in at least seven of them, then we have something in common.

Welcome.

Why I Won't Give Obama a Chance

There are too many conservatives who are all too willing to grant what a liberal NEVER would were the roles reversed ... the benefit of the doubt and assuming good intent.  My issue with this is that in order to "give Obama a chance" requires conservatives to abandon their core principles ... and that is something I am just unwilling to do.

  • I still believe in the sanctity of life and in order to give Obama a chance I would have to embrace "the freedom of choice act" which allows for partial birth abortion, repeals the need for parental consent for an abortion and denies babies born alive after a botched abortion the right to safety, warmth or life saving medical treatment. I believe in the holy state of marriage between 1 woman and 1 man who are of consenting age.  I do not believe that any group of people constitutes a family.  Marriage is the bedrock of society and is sanctified by God Almighty and we have no right or business in redefining it.

  • I still believe in the supremacy of our founding documents namely the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.  I believe their words should be revered not revised and in order to give Obama a chance I would have to see them as "fundamentally flawed"

  • I still believe in the Judeo-Christian values this great country was founded upon.  More over I will NEVER accept that Islam as it is practiced by those sworn to my destruction, the destruction of my friends and family, the destruction of the United States and of Israel has any place or value in Western Civilization; In order to give Obama a chance I would have to embrace Islam, a religion that allows jihad to fester within its rank and file.  Frankly, I see alot of jihadists and few if any Muslims speaking out against or doing anything about the tenet of jihad or the "radicals" that embrace it.  If you love me then show me ... show me that you will speak out that you will excommunicate anyone who teaches jihad or incites hatred in your ranks.  Turn them into the authorities do not allow them to befoul your religion or your mosques -- until you do that I am afraid there is nothing to say.

  • I still believe in the power of the individual to better their own lives over collectivism, socialism or Marxism.  I believe in the supremacy of the family and community efforts to show compassion to those who are struggling.  In order to give Obama a chance I would have to overlook a myriad of bureaucratic government programs that enslave people forcing them into a cycle of poverty and dependence.

  • I still believe in the power of the free market to correct failing economies.  The strongest economies are not artificially bolstered by government intervention.  In order to give Obama a chance I would have to abandon the principles of free market economics for those of collectivism and social engineering.

  • I still believe that having a strong military is absolutely necessary to maintaining our national security and to protect our national interests within our sphere of influence.  In order to give Obama a chance I would have to abandon this belief in favor of community organizers and social workers.  I would have to accept that diplomacy and negotiation without pre-conditions with those sworn to our destruction is a policy worth pursuing.

  • In order to give Obama a chance I would have to abandon my core belief that the only way to eliminate the threat of global jihad is to finally declare war on the sponsor of jihad.  The religion of peace as it has been dubbed is the religion of jihad of honor killings, of suicide bombers, of beheadings and various other forms of savagery.  It is a religion that officially calls for the destruction of all "infidels" (read: Christians and Jews) who unwilling to submit.  It is one of the chief global sponsors of Anti-Semitism.  Western Civilization hangs in the balance.  We must declare war on the religion that at its core embraces jihad because actions speak louder than words ... talk is cheap.  The jihadists are masters of propaganda but they prove their real intent by their actions ....their actions prove they are 100% committed to the death of every infidel and the destruction of all of Western Civilization in favor of a worldwide caliphate.
So you see, while I wish President Obama good health, I find myself not wishing him well, not hoping that his policies will succeed and unwilling to make his job pleasant or easy.  No, my job is to be a loyal American; my job is to take him and any representative of the people to task when they take this country in the wrong direction.  My job is to see that as a conservative we make the fundamental changes necessary to win the next mid-term election by returning to our core principles and not abandon them in favor of political expediency.  To those who say "It's impossible, you have to change with the times and trends" I'll just quote my grandmother of beloved memory ...
"HOGWASH"

What I Wanted To Hear but Didn't ... A Counter Inaugural Address

Yesterday, we heard more rhetoric in the form of an inaugural speech. From what I heard and no, I couldn’t stomach listening to him ramble aimlessly nor watch Michelle glowing in that hideous get up that was a cross between my grandmother’s living room drapes, her sofa and what appeared to be a life preserver left over from the Titanic … I have never dreamed of being in politics let alone President of the United States and yet after the speech that deflated and failed to uplift the spirit of the nation, I feel it is my duty to draft my own version ….

Counter Inaugural Speech

My fellow Americans:

Today marks the transition of power in government. Today brings us to a cross roads of ideologies. I believe that the foundational documents of this great country should be revered and not revised. I believe in you the people of America, not government sponsored programs to end these difficult economic times. I know, in my heart of hearts, that it is the dedication, ingenuity and the Spirit of America that will inspire hope and change.

I believe that there are dangerous enemies not only to America but to all of Western Civilization. We must not fool ourselves into pretending that they are our friends. Rather we must be prepared and have constant vigilance against any group who undermines the values of freedom and liberty. We must continue to be, as the late President Ronald Wilson Reagan said “A beacon on the hill” This does not mean that I will continue the fallacy of exporting democracy to countries who have no desire for it or the means to preserve the gifts given to them. It means that I will utilize our military and resources to further our national interests within our sphere of influence. Hear me now when I say that I will not seek nor counter any protest from the “international community” when it comes to defending this country, her citizens, her interests or her constitution from any enemy foreign or domestic. The oath I have taken just moments ago, I take seriously. It is a mantle I take on with great sobriety and purpose of heart. I hereby dedicate myself, my time and talents to that end. I ask for your prayers that I may have wisdom and clarity of mind as I undertake the duties of this great office and seek only to protect and defend this great and glorious land.

I recognize that the economy is on everyone’s mind these days. We have not been good stewards and now we are reaping what we have sewn. The best stimulus package is not drafted in a boardroom in Washington. The best economic stimulus is created when government gets out of the way and lets Americans get to work. It is my intention to cut across the board government spending by 12%, suspend income taxes for 3 months, decrease the capital gains tax, eliminate the “death tax” and renew the tax cuts initiated by President Bush. The strongest economies are not bolstered artificially. Times are tough at this moment, but this is but a moment and if we can discipline ourselves and avoid knee-jerk reactions we will come through this spectacularly. This is the time when we pull ourselves up, dust ourselves off and get to work. This is the time when sacrifices must be made. Some will work two or three jobs for a short time; others will be the employers. We must all work together and be united in purpose.

I have often been asked how can we help those who struggle, who simply don’t have the ability to help themselves? The answer to this is first family, next communities including religious institutions and finally government intervention. I have a plan for revamping the entire welfare system, a plan that will allow those in need to retain their dignity while getting the help they need and building work skills as they are able at the same time. Some will say it is impossible. I believe in the premise as Mr. Walt Disney did “It’s kinda fun to do the impossible!” More importantly, I have seen this system work worldwide successfully and I know that it will work here.

My fellow citizens, I beseech you to answer the clarion call. Be good neighbors to each other. Build up your communities. Lift each other. Where there is crime begin neighborhood watch programs. Be involved with your police departments and create communities that say loudly to criminals YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE. Where there is despair bring compassion, strengthen those who are struggling. Take a few hours each week to volunteer your time and talents and reach out to those in need. Parents, talk with your children not at them. Listen to their concerns. Share in their joys, counsel them in their quandaries and be swift to punish and curtail unacceptable behaviors; then just as swiftly show them an increase of love. Youth of America you are the promise of a great nation. Study hard in school, get involved in wholesome activities, be a part of your community. Stand strong against anything that degrades you as a person. Create a creed that you will live by. Make decisions now so you don’t have to in the heat of passion. Be prepared for at some point and I cannot possibly say when you will be called upon. The family is the foundation of society, as a nation we must protect and defend the family from anything that tears at that most vital fabric – the fabric of our communities and our nation.

We are a nation of many. We are diverse in many ways, however the one thing we have in common is that we are all Americans. Do not segregate yourself from your neighbors. Resist the urge to be a hyphenated American. Your heritage will always be a part of you, becoming an American is not subtracting anything just adding more to the greatness that is already there. Our families or perhaps even you may have come from across land and sea to this great land for opportunities, make the most of what this country has to offer; education, employment and communities that care.

This great land was founded on the principles of Christianity – principles that allow religious pluralism to flourish. Wherever you choose to worship or choose not to worship is a freedom granted to you by the framers of this government – a government that we should never forget is of the people, by the people and for the people.

We have many challenges before us, and we will face those challenges with the grit of our ancestors; of the pilgrims and pioneers who have come before us. We will learn from the mistakes of the past and look with hope to the future. Our success as a nation depends on all of us being united in cause and purpose. Our success lies not in programs but in the perseverance of the American people. Americans are people see adversity as a challenge to overcome; people who see problems not as stumbling blocks but stepping stones. Together we will rise above the fray we will be strengthened in our resolve to leave for the next generation a stronger nation rooted in the best ideals of the past and committed to building a better tomorrow for everyone.

Again, I ask for your prayers; prayers for wisdom and commitment. Pray for your congress and senate that they will execute their duties faithfully and represent you not special interests. If they should fail to meet your expectations, tell them. If I fail to live up to your expectations, I want to know; I need to know so that I can do a better job. I believe in you. I recognize that you have placed your faith in me to lead you and this nation for the next 4 years. We have a lot to accomplish and little time to do it. I know that it is only through the help of God Almighty that this can be done. I humbly thank you for your faith in me.

Thank you and God Bless America.
