It's difficult to tell what a politician *really* thinks anymore. I have a hard time believing that Romney could be this foolish, but maybe I have been deluded all this time ...
As an ardent supporter of Israel and the Jewish people, I have been asked if, as a Mormon, my political loyalties will continue to lie with Mitt Romney. My answer to this is an unequivocal NO. Just because Romney is Mormon doesn't mean that I would abandon my support for Israel. He made a very foolish statement in a speech. I believe that he will lose alot of support over this, however that is his problem, not mine. I sent the following information to his PAC website in an attempt to educate him about the link between Islam and Jihad and the very real threat it poses to America, Israel, the Jewish people and really all of Western Civilization. I am of the belief that the RNC handlers have gotten to Romney and tried to moderate him even further than he was in the past. This of course is a losing proposition, if anything, the Republican Party needs to return to the first principles of conservatism and draw an even starker difference between the two parties. So here is my statement, as an American Conservative an individual who is a faithful Mormon and a vehement supporter of Israel.

To whom it may concern:
If Governor Romney was serious in this statement then this may well go down as one of the most foolish things ever uttered by a politician. To suggest that there is no link between Islam and jihad is as ludicrous as to suggest that there was no link between the Crusades and Christianity. Certainly there was a link. The Christians of the middle ages did what they did in the name of the cross and the jihadists of today do what they do in the name not of jihad but of Islam. The difference is that Christians stopped slaughtering people who refused to submit in the middle ages, thanks to the fantastic contributions of Islam to modern society Islam now functions in the 15th century. It is time to face reality, there would be no jihad without the foundation of Islam. There are 164 verses in the Koran that inspire the adherents of Islam to jihad, before making such a statement it would be wise to brush up on the facts and history. You cannot in anyway try to view Islam through the lens of Christianity nor can you impose Western values on tribalist nations, it has never worked and I doubt it ever will.
As a former Romney '08 volunteer, I have to think again before I could support him for another bid for the White House. I will never again support an apologists, such a George W. Bush, Condoleeza Rice, and Colin Powell for the religion that has been and continues to be responsible for the spread of terror and the threat against America and Israel. I don't know that I can support Romney if he keeps up with this foolish talk. There is a very definite connection between Islam and the jihadists -- you can't have one without the other -- the jihadists believe that they are "true Muslims" and any who deny the call to jihad are heretics. The call to jihad is in the Koran and it is naive to pretend otherwise. The leaders of several Muslim majority countries call for the annihilation of the Jews and the destruction of America and Israel and they do it not in the name of Jihadism but of Islam.
Mitt Romney seems to have fallen into the trap of the RNC handlers, frankly I thought he was smarter than to let them control him in this manner. I have been very disappointed in Romney since his ‘Extreme Makeover’ courtesy of the RNC. The RNC is going to play him and make him into the 2012 McCain. I believe this was part of the deal for him stepping out of the '08 campaign 'gracefully' and allowing McCain to be the nominee. Romney will be wrecked by this sort of handling -- he would be better off to tell the RNC that he is going to run as a principled conservative. This next election is going to be the RNC trying another 'rescue Gilligan' act -- remaking the Republican Party AGAIN -- the problem is they keep liberalizing and not creating a real choice for voters. True liberals will always choose the real thing when offered 'liberal light' (Dole, George W. Bush) The nonsense known as 'compassionate conservatism was nothing more thasn liberalism wrapped in the flag.
What we need is a presidential candidate who has the moral courage and intellectual integrity to stand up and say:
"The religion of Islam may portend to be one of peace and enlightenment, but it is not. It is a bloodthirsty religion that seeks a worldwide caliphate through submission or the sword. The pages of history are splattered with the truth of Islam. Now, we have an even more radicalized form of this so called religion, that of the jihadists who slink into and get converts from the dredges of society the prison system and seek to destroy Western Civilization, particularly America and Israel. There are those who will make excuses for Islam, I will not. The religion of Islam must take responsibility for being the foundation of jihadist movement, for fostering and nurturing it, the international community demands the adherents of Islam control them and to end the assault against the Western World within their own ranks. Until Islam undertakes this most serious task and eradicates jihad from its rank and file there can never be peace. Until Islam does this we are at war with you and your ideologues and mark my words ... we will win."

How many German people were true Nazis?
A German's Point of View on Islam by Carlton-Ross

A German's point of view on Islam
A man whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.
"Very few people were true Nazis"he said," but many enjoyed the return of German pride, andmany more were too busy to care.I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, we had lost control and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories."
We are told again and again by "experts" and "talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.
It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honor killers. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. The hard quantifiable fact is that the "peaceful majority", the "silent majority", is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China 's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people. The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet. And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery? Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peace loving"?
History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
Peace-loving Muslims (people) have been made irrelevant by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims (Americans) will become (the) our enemy if they don't speak up, because, like my friend from Germany, they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them and the end of their world will have begun. Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghanis, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.
As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.
Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit and send this on and on and on! Let us hope that thousands, world wide, read this and think about it, and send it on - before it's too late.

Mitt Romney: Jihadism Is Not Part of Islam
June 03, 2009
Dan Gilgoff, God & Country
With Obama's big speech to the Muslim world in the offing, I asked Mitt Romney in an interview yesterday about a major speech on national security that he gave on Monday at the Heritage Foundation. In it, Romney referred to Islam only insofar as he referred to "jihadism," a term he used four times in the address, and to "mullahs" and "ayatollahs."
I asked Romney how he'd respond to Muslim complaints that his speech characterized Islam in entirely sinister terms. His response surprised me:
I didn't refer to Islam at all, or to any other religion for that matter. I spoke about three major threats America faces on a long term basis. Jihadism is one of them, and that is not Islam. If you want my views on Islam, it's quite straightforward. Islam is one of the world's great religions and the great majority of people in Islam want peace for themselves and peace with their maker. They want to raise families and have a bright future.
There is, however, a movement in the world known as jihadism. They call themselves jihadists and I use the same term. And this jihadist movement is intent on causing the collapse of moderate Muslim states and the assassination of moderate Muslim leaders. It is also intent on causing collapse of other nations in the world. It's by no means a branch of Islam. It is instead an entirely different entity. In no way do I suggest it is a part of Islam.
Romney sees no connection whatsoever between Islam and the jihadists? Experts often say that Islamic terrorists are promoting a distorted version of Islam, but they seldom claim that there's no connection between the religious tradition and the jihadists who claim to act in that tradition's name.
The Heritage Foundation itself has issued papers and sponsored events on "radical Islam," "revolutionary Islam," and "militant Islam." Would Romney argue that none of these phenomena are related to Islam but rather constitute an entirely distinct phenomenon called jihadism?
